the science
barrier science, engineered.
Two patent-pending technologies. One principle: work with the skin barrier, never against it.
our thesis
most skin problems are barrier problems.
Redness, breakouts, marks that won't fade — different symptoms, same root cause. Conventional skincare treats each symptom with a different irritant. We rebuilt the approach from the barrier upward, in our own lab, from molecule one.
chapter one — hydrofusion™
the problem nobody else solved
Hypochlorous acid is the molecule your white blood cells make to cleanse and calm. It has one flaw: botanicals destroy it on contact. Rose water — the most loved soothing hydrosol in skincare — kills HOCl within hours. Every other brand picks one or the other. We refused.
-
the conflict
Rosa Damascena hydrosol is rich in phenolic compounds. In a bottle with hypochlorous acid, they react — and both actives quietly die on the shelf.
-
selective purification
HydroFusion™ treats the hydrosol to remove only the compounds that neutralise HOCl. The soothing, softening character of true rose water survives intact — 96.8% of the formula.
-
stabilised pairing
Purified hydrosol and boosted HOCl are combined in a precision-balanced system, pH-matched to the skin's acid mantle.
-
proven stability
The finished formula holds its potency through its entire shelf life — verified by stability testing, not marketing copy. Patent pending.

chapter two — hydrosil™
occlusion was never enough
Silicone gels have been the clinical standard for scar care for decades — because a breathable film genuinely helps. But a film alone only protects. It doesn't treat. HydroSil™ does both at once.
-
the film
A cross-linked silicone matrix forms a flexible, invisible, breathable barrier over the scar — the protection clinicians already trust.
-
the actives inside
Dispersed within the film: niacinamide (2%), panthenol (3%), ectoin (1%) and madecassoside — delivered continuously, exactly where skin is repairing.
-
the environment
The film maintains the hydrated microenvironment scars need to remodel — while the actives support tone, texture and comfort. Two phases, one gel. Patent pending.
chapter three — hocl
the hero molecule isn't ours. it's yours.
Hypochlorous acid isn't a lab invention — it's what your own immune system releases to fight bacteria and calm inflammation. Our job was never to improve it. Just to bottle it properly.
-
skin-identical
Because your body already makes it, HOCl cleanses and calms without the disruption of alcohols or surfactants — gentle enough for daily use on reactive skin.
-
microbiome-conscious
It supports the skin's natural microbial balance instead of stripping it — cleansing that doesn't leave the barrier worse off.
-
boosted, in balance
In Acne Clear, HOCl is boosted and paired with a zinc, magnesium and strontium electrolyte complex — clean, never stripped.
how we compare
the base18 standard, side by side
still curious
the science, questioned
what actually is hypochlorous acid?
what actually is hypochlorous acid?
Hypochlorous acid (HOCl) is a molecule your own immune system produces — white blood cells release it to fight bacteria and calm inflammation. In skincare it acts as a gentle, skin-identical cleansing and calming agent, effective enough for clinical settings yet gentle enough for daily use on sensitive skin.
why does pH matter so much?
why does pH matter so much?
Healthy skin sits at a slightly acidic pH — the acid mantle. Formulas that ignore it force your skin to spend energy re-acidifying instead of repairing. Every Base18 formula is pH-optimised to work with the mantle, not against it.
what does patent pending mean here?
what does patent pending mean here?
It means we've filed patent applications for the HydroFusion™ purification process and the HydroSil™ two-phase delivery system — the technologies are our own, developed by our chemists, not licensed off a shelf.
